Director, Venture Capital & Start-Ups, Microsoft Africa Initiatives
Ms. Amrote Abdella is the current Director, Venture Capital & Start-Ups for the Microsoft Africa Initiatives dubbed Microsoft 4 Afrika. These projects are aimed at improving Africa’s global competitiveness by actively contributing to its economic development through three pillars, namely: innovation, skill and access. While there, she is involved in helping start-ups get technical expertise and support to scale up. Prior to joining Microsoft, she was the Associate Director for Africa at the World Economic Forum and has also worked at the World Bank as a Financial Analyst. Ms. Adbella is a graduate of The Brandeis University, Heller School for Social Policy and Management in Massachusetts, USA . At just 32, she is evidently passionate about Africa as a continent, its development and that of its people.
