It has almost become a cliche to see the label LADY-DRIVEN CARS in car-sales websites. But what impression does this give?

Most of us assume this means the car is still new and in good condition but to others, this may mean a lot of dents and that the has not been checked or the oil  not inspected for quite a while. I know you didn’t realize that, did you?

For such a long time, ladies have been assumed to be very poor drivers and when I say poor, most guys mean terrible. As a lady though, I can attest that we have good lady drivers though I am not one yet.

Its quite interesting how on the road, when the driver is spotted to be a lady, it’s like the car has a ‘Handle with care’ label. Or, in the event of a slow down followed by hooting, you often hear the phrase “Oh!it’s a lady!”

While men are known to be competitive beings, women can be a bit more cautious and on the road, are often slow and careful. Secondly, men are very responsive while women often seem to panic if/when they sense danger. This may explain the many dents as she panics and accelerate instead of braking.

Back to the “Lady Driven Car” label. Never be so sure what that means. It may look as good as new, but there is probably more to it. To get a male perspective on this, please read my colleague Mitchell’s views HERE
