A story is told about a young man who fell in love with a very beautiful lady in town. He saw no defect in her, despite her blindness. She was everything he ever wanted and he always gave his best for her to stay happy and keep smiling. Despite her happiness, she had a wish that one day, she would be able to see what others could see.

After pondering through his lady’s wish, the young man set out to make this happen. He sought medical advice and was told this wish was impossible unless there was an eye donor and that even this, was no guarantee of success. Determined to make his queen’s wish come true, he set out to find an eye donor but to no avail. He just had himself as the donor and thus opted to give his eyes to this girl. The operation was carried out and finally the girl was able to see although the young man lost his eyesight.

When the girl had recovered and able to see, she was happy. She could see all the beautiful things that she had desired to see. Eager to see the man who was always there for her, she went to where he was seated and to her disappointment, he was blind. She could not believe it and did not want him anymore. As she left, all the young man could bring himself to say was: ‘’Take care of my eyes.”

How many of us have been ungrateful to the very people to whom, we owe much i.e our parents? Let us make amends and value each and every sacrifice that has been made for us. Click HERE to read more posts by Gertrude
