A story is told about an ant which was carrying a large feather across a concrete pavement. The ant was however faced with a challenge; there was a crack in the concrete about 10mm wide and the ant needed to figure out how to overcome the obstacle.
Being the small ant but with a big brain; the ant spread the feather across the detour; crossed over and then picked the feather from the other side. Well done Mr. Ant.
Lesson 1 – Many of us when faced by challenges become so frustrated that we don’t find solutions to the detour or hole we find ourselves in. Just like the ant which is just but a tiny animal, we need to become creative and fix the problem.
Lesson 2 – The ant got to its destination which is tiny corner hole near the wall. It tried pushing the feather into the wall but we all know it would not fit. So what did the ant do? The ant after all the struggle and overcoming challenges, just left the feather and went home. Such a sad moment I know.
However, this reflects many of us, in our own lives. The ant had not thought through the problem before beginning the journey and so the feather ended up being nothing but a burden. Just like the ant, we carry so many burdens and worries that are not worth the hustle. We need to have a thorough thought process and have in mind that detours are bound to be there, but to ensure we do not carry unnecessary burdens along the path, it is important to BEGIN WITH THE END.
