Having experienced loss in my life, a very fundamental lesson I have learnt from death and other losses I have experienced is that life is short and the right time to appreciate and love the people in your life is NOW!

Many a time, we see someone in a nice hair-cut, in a beautiful dress, looking good in one way or other, but we don’t tell them. We have a friend who is always there for us, always checking up on us but we might forget to tell them how much they mean to us. Our parents sacrifice so much for us both financially and emotionally, but often life gets too busy to appreciate and remind them that we love them. Our spouses love us and give the best they can for the relationship/marriage, always putting the best foot forward to make sure everything works out well, do we take time to show gratitude?

It’s not until we lose that person, that we start to endlessly talk about how good they were and how much they meant to us, yet we never made them feel that way when we had them.

Be it a loss through death or separation, we often realize that we should have done better to make the other person feel more loved and appreciated, but often it’s too late.

Who is that person that means a lot to you yet we have not told them so? Who needs to be reminded that you care and love them? Do that TODAY! There might not be a tomorrow to say, I love you!” To get a male perspective on this, check out Mitchell’s post HERE
