‘On Why Men Don’t Like to Talk’
Men prefer action. Let’s watch a football match, let’s play rugby, watch a move perhaps, how about wrestling? Not sit and talk. Definitely not. If we must talk, then we do so very quickly, get straight to the point, skip the process, we appreciate the end product.
When men come together to hang out, it is very easy to predict what they will talk about. Updates about their lives, soccer, the party last Friday, then women, women, and women. However ,not in ways women talk to each other. More along the lines of: “So you like her, Aha I knew it…. So what do you plan on doing about it? I see the way you look at her. Do you want me to help?” lol and that is it. Then the subject turns to the future.
We are not fascinated by spending a lot of time discussing how a date went, what you were dressed in, setting the scene (as if this were a play), where we sat, what we ordered. We barely notice that. In actual fact, if a man can tell the colour of your iris, marry that man for he is an exception and way above his league of gentlemen. Don’t believe me? Well, go ahead and taunt him. Find out if he even remembers what you were dressed in when you last met.
If we must talk, we like to talk about the future or maybe cars and engines;conversations that are seemingly future oriented. For example, if we come from a picnic or a nature trail and we spent a lot of time together, the man wants time to himself now. He wants to reconnect with his inner self so he can bounce back in full strength. This is not the time to call him for lengthy conversations. In essence these thoughts are only allowed if you are a woman, if you are a dude forget it. We had a good time camping. We talk when we meet next.
Recently, I was shocked when a lady friend of mine mentioned that her throat was tired a few days back. I interjected “Stop right there. Wait a second. What do you mean your throat was tired? You mean the human throat can tire?” then she responded “Yes, that day I spoke a lot and did some vocal training by evening, I was tired” That came as a revelation to me and since then I have developed new respect for women. I didn’t know that could happen to a human being and probably it is because it has never happened to men.
