I love these beautiful words more so because they are addressing a very important topic – PEACE as our country gears towards the next elections.
This word has been on the lips of virtually every person; leaders both in politics, religion and even in business. Even the common mwananchi is singing the same tune. But one question I ask myself is this: what constitutes peace and how do we get and keep peace? Peace is not the absence of chaos but the ability to be calm in the midst of all that. It is a fact that not all people love peace and there are those who would love there to be chaos and strife so that they can carry out their illicit intentions however, as citizens, we need to know them and and shun them. Once isolated, they will think twice because the spotlight will be on them.
I can confidently put this forward that for us to have peace, the surest and quickest way is the highway called LOVE. If you love somebody, you will treat them in the best way possible and you will avoid anything that can cause them harm. If you love a person, you will do your best to make them happy, comfortable and safe. So my fellow citizens, before we preach peace, let us make a foundation of love and peace will flow by itself. Love is selfless and does not seek for selfish gains but the good of all. Love sympathizes with those in problems and pain and does not seek to know what tribe, race, religion or nationality you ascribe to. It seeks out for the human in you and connects with it.
As the country goes into the elections and even after the elections, let us extend love to our fellow countrymen and we will have achieved that which we so much seek and want; PEACE. To read more posts by Mwangi, click HERE
