MALE PERSPECTIVE By Mitchell Odhiambo

“WHEN DO YOU TELL YOUR PARTNER THAT YOU LOVE THEM?”

All a man’s life, his heart searches for one thing that his mouth cannot say. This lobe of flesh often implodes with joy once the gentleman has found the jewel that plays the strings of his heart but when exactly do you tell your partner that you love her? Is it important that you have a strategy to do it? Read on to find out my thoughts on the same.

As a gentleman, it is important first to gather enough courage to propose in person. I bet the ladies will agree with me, no matter how shy you are or life threatening it may seem, forget the letters, emails, social media messages; to break the news you love someone, you should do it in active voice (prioritize if you can), you do not want to miss her facial expression when you say it.

I believe it is important for a man to share his love with his partner the minute he is sure he is ready to spend the rest of his life with her. Don’t take a lot of time thinking it through, try manipulate the environment perhaps take a hike or a nature walk or even ask her out for dinner, get the right ambience and the words will freely go forward.

Do not take forever strategizing, men can do that a lot.  Love knows no strategy, it is a language of the soul, listen to your heart and go get her. There’s an African proverb that says – he that loves a beautiful woman and says nothing, shall end up fetching water on her wedding day. Terrible situation.

After your friendship has gone well, both of you realize you are compatible, be the man and initiate the process. Drop a few hints here and there, mix it up with a couple of surprises and drop the bombshell. You could spice it up by whispering into her ear “I love you”.

Once your heart has found, you have tested and tried, you are prepared to wife that woman, go on band e bold about it. Tell that woman you love her and be prepared to face the outcome honorably.

You know love is like strong drink, it’s a dangerous concoction, it either warms the heart or burns down the entire house. The minute you tell that to a woman, you better be prepared to date her, court her and ultimately wife her.  Welcome to a man’s world.
