Every independent country has rules that governs its citizens. This outlines their rights, what they are allowed to do or not do. Some call it the supreme law although the most common and legal term used, is the CONSTITUTION.

It is difficult and almost impossible to govern or lead people if there are no laws for guidance. Humans are naturally averse to rules and regulations and if allowed to do so, can go to extremes, which end up being detrimental to their fellow human beings.

When a constitution is being written, in any Democratic state, the input of all citizens and group interests is usually taken into consideration. The government must make sure that it is fair, simple and non discriminatory. Every single item from finances, social, religious and moral issues are all addressed in the constitution. We can safely say that a constitution is the guiding light that governs people in a Democratic state. One major point about a constitution is that other than being the main guidance, it is not cast in stone. This means it can be amended according to the changes happening within society.

Each individual in the world is an institution in him/herself. We all need to have a set of rules and regulations that guide us in our day to day activities. It would be irresponsible to live life without any form of guidance. Without this, one is bound to do things haphazardly and making unnecessary and costly blunders will be inevitable. A constitution also controls people from other countries. It states who should be allowed or denied access in to a particular country. We also should have checks and balances and should be very careful who we allow access, into our lives.

As I conclude, my request is simple; take time to write a personal constitution that will guide your daily activities. To read more posts by Mwangi, click HERE
