Kill them with success and bury them with a smile. Keisha Keenleyside

(A man walks into the restaurant and sits himself on the couch. He is average looking and seems to be immersed in his phone conversation.  A short time later, in walks in a stunningly looking lady. She wears a sharp but alluring smile and seems to be in high spirits. The man raises his head…

Lawi: (With an amazed look)… Amanda!

Amanda: (Confidently but with a searching look turns to catch a glimpse of her ex-boyfriend seated at the corner. Uh-huh.

(Lawi had left her for another girl because she was from a poor family and the other girl was rich thus could match his status.)

Lawi:  Did you win a lottery or something? You look stunning.

Amanda: (With a sardonic smile)…Lottery winners are humans too and that is success as well.

(A second lady is seen coming in and walks straight to where the man is. He stands to hug and peck her then goes back to his comfort. The lady then turns and notices Amanda.

Sue: Welcome madam. Please take a seat. (She says as she stretches a hand to greet her).

(To Lawi who is her husband) Hun, this is the lady I told you about. She is willing to buy the majority shares of our company to save us the big loss.

Lawi: She is? (He asks in disbelief)

Sue: Yes. (All smiles) She is the owner of the award winning consultancy firm in the country. She has been abroad and is also the majority shareholder of the popular upcoming airline in the country.

Lawi: (Looking at Angela, his ego hurt. he sighs) Wow! That is amazing…

They hurt you, do not retaliate. Anger and reason do not work hand in hand. Why rot in a cell when all you need is a deep breath and the ability to walk away? That is what decency is. It will hurt but it will be worth it. Satisfaction might not come immediately but it will, for sure. Throwing a fist is a waste of energy. Save it for the better things. Fight your way up and shine.

In the current society, it is of essence to remember that people will always judge us. The impact of their aggression on us is all dependent upon us. If we allow them to, they will destroy us mentally and we might not be able to recover from there. Mental injury has a greater impact than physical injury. All the power is vested in us either to allow the destruction or ignore and aim higher.

Having a happy life entails a combination of going with the flow and sometimes swimming against the currents. Remember the life of a water lily…Not every fight is for an iron fist because we might end up getting carried away by the angry currents or get tired of pushing harder and drown in the process.

The world is full of people who prove themselves otherwise, in spite of what others believed about them. We need the Steve Jobs and Brian Actons (founder of WhatsApp), of today. If people leave us in pain, then we should use the pain to earn our success and let that define who we are.

The amazing thing about time, is that it changes. We are the determinants of whether the change will be registered as time moves or we are going to stagnate. Tables never fail to turn .We have a chance of doing it for us and in the process, prove our detractors wrong. When they say you can’t, don’t say you can, Just Do It and let them see that you can. Let your actions speak and save your energy. After all, nature has to balance. That is why they say, “Revenge is a dish best served cold”. To read more posts by Gertrude, click HERE
