Men and women are very distinct; in character, in physique, in so many aspects and that right there is the beauty of life. We’ve been having a teen’s camp by name “Latter fire” since Tuesday this week. It’s the 22nd year this camp is going down and up until this year’s, the arrangement was being done by a team of men. This year’s though was organized by women for the most part of it and I’ve been blown away by how differently it turned out.

I figured through the process, men focus on abstract things. Is the venue sorted, do we have food and accommodation? Good. We are all set. Women I have seen, add colour and beauty to life. They set aside in the budget and actually had conversations around décor and interior design, the overall feel and image; issues we completely overlook as men.

It hit me that this could be the same in a given household. The man is inclined to think on issues such as; do we have shelter, is it paid for, electricity, seats etc. and he’s cool. The woman, on the other hand, would think of the finer details: what kind of neighbourhood is this? Curtains should we buy and if so, colour and material of seats, carpet and so on and so forth. Without women, we are doomed let me tell you.

Generally, women have a higher EQ and I would encourage those in IT to engage them in Graphic design, web interface, branding and the overall feel. They know how to connect with the end consumer and improve the customer experience.

Perhaps this may mean they spend more in a household and perhaps purchase shoes and clothes repeatedly or in many cases, more than they need or will actually wear. From what I have seen, I would encourage our women to keep that up. Buy whatever you need to see, whatever you envision come to life. As for men, we may not understand why, but let us have it as it is. It’s for the better believe me. Until we speak again, I am your host Mitchell Odhiambo. Welcome to a man’s world.
