After potatoes have been harvested, they are sorted out in to sizes to gain the most from the returns. They are sorted according to their sizes:  big, medium or small . These are then packed and loaded on to trucks.

One farmer never bothered to sort the potatoes out at all. Surprisingly, he seemed to make more from returns than all the other farmers.  A competitor who refused to believe the rumours that he uses mystical powers to gain unfair advantage asked him,  “What is your secret?”

He said, “Its simple, I just load my pick up with potatoes and take the roughest route to town. During the five kilometers trip, the little potatoes always fall at the bottom. The medium potatoes land in the middle, while the big potatoes rise to the top. This saves time and makes it easier to sort out while selling to my clients.”

This is not just true of potatoes, it is also the reality in life. The way big potatoes rise to the top on the rough road, tough people rise to the top in rough times. So, when the going gets tough, it is the tough that rise to the top! To read more posts by Danstan, click HERE
