I recently had a conversation with my brother which left me in fits of laughter. He said to me: “Bro., if you marry the wrong woman, let me just tell you right now, you will die at the age you said I do. That is a death sentence and you will have no one to help you. You will die young.”  Lol. I laughed but it’s true.

A man with dreams needs a woman with vision. Her perspective, faith and support will change his reality. If she doesn’t challenge you then she’s not good for you. Men who want to stay ordinary will tell you not to have expectations of them. Men who want to be great will expect you to push them, pray with them and invest with them

What you want is a woman who will give you a place you can call home. A prudent wife who graciously obtains favour at the city gates. One whom together through wisdom, you can lay the foundation of your marriage, by understanding you can build it and by knowledge, fill its rooms with rare and beautiful treasure. Once you find yourself this my friend, you can conquer the world.

A clamorous woman on the contrary, tears her own house down with her own hands. My friend you would do yourself a favour to stay away from her. It is better for you to live in the wilderness or at the corner of a roof, than to share a house with a quarrelsome wife. The teacher says he finds it more bitter than death the woman who is a snare, whose hands are chains and whose heart is a trap. I wish you well in your affairs.

Marriage is a communal affair, I accept. We could come witness your union, celebrate your wedding but beyond that, it remains a private affair between you and your wife. Be wise about the choice you make.  Until we speak again, I am your host Mitchell Odhiambo. Welcome to a man’s world.
